carolina
did you drive all night
by orion's light
singing to the windshield
and the southern sky
and the lightning bugs
and the evening shrugs
her shoulders
her pale white shoulders
her weeping willow shoulders
In the coastal breeze
you come like the sun rise
you smell like
honeysuckle on the vine
your hair all around me
your kiss
like watermelon
In my mouth
did you drive all night
did you drive all night
just to be here
by my side
I love you so much

carolina
can I put all this into one song?
It’s late august and I swelter in richmond. only the cool evening breeze from the coast brings respite as it floats the curtains.
I drift away on the sofa I hear your car tires crunch on the pebbles outside. you are in the room in seconds, wrapping around me, smelling like summer and the beach and honeysuckle and pine trees.your mouth is so wet like a precious fruit. you are on top of me, your hair flowing all around me. I am inside you in seconds.
the pet shop boys are playing in the house next door. out side the lightning bugs mimic their star cousins a million miles higher and I hold you, my precious soul in my arms.
did you drive all night? just to be here, by my side?
I love you so much.
